IPHU Community
a space for dialogue and construction among activists
1. Health: An intersectional approach
What is health? An intersectional approach is the first module of this IPHU because at the very begining we needed to set a common understanding about Health as a central topic: how we understand it, what are its implications.
In this module we have two main sections: About health; and The intersectionality of struggles. The latter will be found in another card.
Block 1. About Health
In this first block we explore the core concept of health, and then we deepen into how we understand it as a collective and social phenomenon linked to the main social and systemic structures and dynamics.
1. About health: An intersectional approach
(Material 1. Video)
HEALTH: what it is, what are social determinants of health, and the intersectional approach: A video where Chiara Bodini, Anuj Kapilashrami introduce us to the main concepts around health, social determinants, and the intersectionality of health.
(Material 2. Infographics)
The following infographic has been created by Carlotta Cataldi, based on the work of Chiara Bodini and Anuj Kapilashrami from PHM and collects the most important aspects of Module 1. HEALTH: what is it, what are the social determinants of health and the intersectional approach.
Recorded discussion with participants + Anuj Kapilashrami and Chiara Bodini
On May 6 we held a live debate session with AnujKapilashrami and Chiara Bodini, you can see it here if you are interested:
Now, time for debate and bringing in your opinions
You may react to these presentations and materials the way you prefer, though we may trigger through some questions:
- Your approach: What is your own approach to the perspectives of social determinants, social determination and intersectionality of health? How to integrate a transformative perspective or action on this regard in the struggles for the right to health?
- Using these materials: Do you think these materials could have some use for future trainings and awareness raising actions? (Is there something that should be improved, for it to happen?)
You can start or continue a debate by posting a "Comment" below or replying to others's comments.
